This month, we exhibited at the HRD Summit, held at the ICC in Birmingham.
The HRD Summit is the most senior gathering of HR professionals in the world, so we took the opportunity to meet with leaders from employers across the world and discuss the challenges they face when it comes to staff training and apprenticeships.
With the clock ticking before levy contributions start to expire, the hot topic was unsurprisingly the apprenticeship levy – and how to spend it. A large percentage of employers are yet to spend any of their levy – but are keen to do so.
One of the key challenges mentioned was potential disruption to business, and many were keen to explore how blended learning can be used to overcome this. We also had a number of discussions about how technology could be better embedded into learning strategies, and the positive impact it can have on staff training.
It was clear that many large organisations have learning needs that can be met effectively by colleges – and HR Directors are very receptive to the benefits further education can bring to their organisations.
