Our year in review – part 1: product updates

Mindful Education Marketing team

2022 has been an exciting and eventful year for Mindful Education. Highlights have included launching several new courses across a number of different subject areas, running a highly successful Q2022 AAT pilot in partnership with Cardiff and Vale College, and introducing significant accessibility updates across our portfolio.

Q2022 – Course Updates

This year AAT launched a new suite of qualifications under the banner of ‘Q2022’, the most significant change to AAT qualifications in nearly a decade. Mindful Education spent 18 months and over £1m updating our courses in line with the new specifications.

Our Q2022 course updates included:

  • Video lessons re-filmed from scratch
  • Improved tutor resources section including all-new mapping documents and lesson materials
  • Upgraded VLEs with enhanced accessibility and user experience features

Prior to the Q2022 launch in September, our team ran a series of free webinars for college tutors, to update them on the new specifications, The process of updating even just one course can take a substantial amount of time and effort, so doing it across all three was quite a feat for our production, digital and creative teams.

Q2022 Pilot Course with Cardiff and Vale College

In Spring, we worked with our long-standing partner, Cardiff and Vale College, to deliver the UK’s only blended learning pilot of the new Q2022 Level 2 course.

The pilot saw a 75% first-time pass rate, with 100% merit and distinction grades.

Accessibility Updates

During the year we also introduced significant accessibility updates across all our VLEs, including:

A transcript feature across all video lessons which allows learners to take control of their learning by being able to jump to a particular section of a video

300% page zoom-in functionality makes pages easier to read

Ability to change contrast level using high-contrast plugins, which allow low vision users greater comfort when using the VLE

CIPD launch

September also saw the launch of the latest addition to our portfolio of courses: CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Practice.

This qualification is aimed at recent graduates and/or professionals, with HR experience, who are ready to progress in their careers and develop their skills in People Practice.

This course is now being offered at a number of our partner colleges and training providers. The Mindful Education team worked incredibly hard on building the Virtual Learning, creating the learning content/syllabus, filming the lesson videos, and putting it all together ready to be delivered with our partners. You can find out more about our HR courses here.

NALP

In addition to our accounting, management, and HR courses, we added a new law course to our portfolio: the NALP (National Association of Licensed Paralegals) level 3 Certificate in Paralegal Practice.

Our Head of Product Ivan Ivanovic says:

“It’s fantastic to see all of our hard work pay off – the new law and HR courses are the product of countless planning sessions, collaboration amongst our teams, and the huge amount of hard work that has gone into the build and production of these courses. I’m so pleased with the quality of work we have produced and it’s great to be able to continue adding to our suite of professional qualifications.”

Ivan Ivanovic, Head of Product, Mindful Education

In 2023, the Mindful Education team will be working towards completing more new courses to add to our portfolio, including ILM Level 3 Management course, along with a new Business Administration course. These courses will be ready for learners to enrol from September 2023.
