Empowering educators: we surveyed tutors on how they use tech to solve teaching and learning challenges
The landscape of education is constantly evolving, and technology is significantly impacting how tutors can tackle the various challenges they are faced with.
At the recent AAT Training Provider Conference, we conducted a survey of the tutors in attendance, to find out what the common hurdles are that they face in their roles, and how they think technology is impacting teaching and learning.
Boosting accessibility for learners
Edtech has made education more accessible and inclusive than ever before. A staggering 82% of respondents to our survey agreed with the statement that technology helps learners to study around busy work and personal lives.
Moreover, 55% of respondents agreed that technology provides accessibility for those with additional learning needs, such as sight issues or dyslexia.
“Managing workloads emerged as the most significant challenge for tutors in the workplace, with 64% in agreement. ”
Supporting tutors to excel in their roles
Technology can also help streamline processes, allowing tutors to concentrate on supporting learners. In the survey, 64% tutors stated that they use edtech to monitor and track learner progress – ultimately freeing up more time to concentrate on delivering lessons and providing 1:1 support.
Additionally, 55% of tutors used technology to help with the planning and delivery of classroom sessions, whilst 50% used it to design resources and to support delivery.
“55% of respondents agreed that technology provides accessibility for those with additional learning needs, such as sight issues or dyslexia.”
Addressing workplace challenges
Managing workloads emerged as the most significant challenge for tutors in the workplace, with 64% in agreement. Meeting targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) followed closely behind at 40.9%.
Technology has a significant role to play in futureproofing education
The integration of technology holds immense promise for addressing the challenges many tutors are currently facing. The flexibility and support it offers is also essential for boosting accessibility to learners, and ensuring that tutors are able to give them tailored support throughout their studies.
We are committed to supporting our partners, including tutors, to ensure that the delivery of learning and skills is seamless and efficient. You can watch our case study with Westminster Adult Education Service to hear from learners and tutors about how they have been supported by Mindful Education.
