Getting started as an Online and On Campus learner
Starting a new course can be exciting, but knowing where to begin can sometimes feel tricky. As part of our Online and On Campus course inductions, we have created a range of resources to help you stay organised and engage with your learning.
Your welcome pack
At your course induction, you’ll receive a welcome pack containing items designed to support you throughout your studies. This includes a notebook, a pen and a study planner.
Use your notebook to record key points, ideas and notes from your lessons. Keeping your learning in one place makes it easier to revisit important information and can help reinforce what you’ve just learned.
Your study planner is a useful tool for organising your time. Use it to plan your study sessions and allocate dedicated time to your learning each day. Building a regular study routine can help you stay on track and make steady progress throughout your course.
Here is a look at what you will receive:

“I’ve been using the Mindful Education study planner for the past two years, and it has become such an important part of my routine. I’ve grown so accustomed to having it by my side that I’m not sure I’m ready to face the rest of the academic year without it!”
Logging in to your course
To log in to your course, you’ll need the URL (web address) for your Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). This information should have been provided to you by your tutor via email. If you cannot find these details, our handy VLE Login finder page can help you retrieve them.
Making the most of the VLE
When you log in to the VLE, you will be able to watch high-quality, engaging online lessons paired with questions and activities to test your understanding. We also offer additional resources for you to use to further challenge yourself and solidify your learning.
Stuck on a tricky topic and need to revisit? Rewatch the recorded tutorials as often as you like, and use our useful transcription tool to jump to a specific part of the video to refresh your learning. Each lesson on your VLE will also offer a ‘Study Text’, which is a comprehensive PDF of the material covered in each lesson, including full video transcripts.
You can access a Sequence of Learning document alongside a mapping document for every unit of study. These documents provide a clear overview of what you’re expected to learn and offer reassurance that all the necessary content is covered. You’ll find these documents in the Unit Overview section of each unit on your VLE.
Our AAT and NALP VLEs have a new focus on self-reflection and encourage learners to take responsibility for their assessment preparation. A new page ‘Planning Your Revision’ offers practical strategies and guidance to help learners structure their revision and feel more confident going into assessments.
Supporting Online and On Campus learners is important to us, so if you’re looking for additional guidance, support or information about your course, check out the support section of the VLE to explore the resources available to you. You can also find out more and access learner support on our website.
