Admissions spotlight: WAES

As part of our partnership services, the Mindful Education partner marketing team works closely with college admissions staff to support learner recruitment.
In this blog, we speak to Sultan Khan, Head of Admissions at Westminster Adult Education Service, to find out a bit more about him and his team, the work they do, and their experiences of working with the Mindful Education marketing team.
Sultan, what do you consider to be the top three highlights of your role in admissions?
- Facilitating access to education for a diverse range of adult learners.
- Guiding and supporting students through their application journey.
- Contributing to the growth and success of local and wider communities / WAES.
What’s the most impactful admissions activity or project you’ve worked on recently?
I’ve worked on many projects focusing on eliminating manual processes. Notably, I am currently working with all stakeholders to facilitate the integration of welfare interviews into a centralised system, streamlining the wider admissions process.
How has working with the Mindful Education team supported your admissions processes for Online and On Campus courses?
Mindful Education’s support has enhanced our capacity to manage applications for both online and on campus courses effectively.
How would you describe the usefulness of the Mindful Education Partner Hub – specifically the Admissions unit – in accessing the resources you need to support applicants?
The Partner Hub, particularly the Admissions unit, is a valuable tool for accessing essential resources that aid in supporting applicants.
The comprehensive nature of the product awareness training and supporting materials has been really beneficial, especially the resources that address frequently asked questions and potential challenges faced by applicants, enabling us to provide more effective support.
Has this support helped you save time or improve efficiency when handling enquiries and guiding learners through the admissions process?
Yes, the support and the product awareness workshop has definitely helped save the team time and enhance efficiency when it comes to handling enquiries and supporting learners during the admissions process.
What would you say to others about your experience working in partnership with Mindful Education?
Working with the Mindful Education team has been a truly collaborative experience, they allow open communication and responsiveness which is so valuable when working with partners. Overall, Mindful Education and WAES have had a productive and fruitful partnership and I look forward to continuing working together!
